Lung biopsy

Well, I'm having surgery on May 18th. Unless there is a cancellation before then. I am not looking forward to it, but to make the most of it, I'll find some hand sewing projects that I can do while recovering. I wish I knew somebody that had a lung biopsy so I could find out what to expect. The surgeon said it will be uncomfortable, like a broken rib. Well, I don't call a broken rib "uncomfortable". I'll have to wait and see.

Happy Easter

I forgot to tell you Happy Easter! I hope that bunny is good to you.

Wow. I haven't written here since February.

A lot has happened if my life lately. At Christmas I had pneumonia. This was the 2nd time I had pneumonia. I had it in 2003 and I was much sicker that time. The cough seemed to just hang on and hang on. The follow up xray showed I still had some pneumonia although it had cleared quite a bit. So I had to take another course of antibiotics. When I told my doctor that I was still coughing I had a 2nd follow up xray. This time they suggested a CT scan. The CT scan report came back "underlying lung disease" and suggested another CT scan in 3-6 months, and I was referred to a pulmonologist. I really like my pulmonologist. She ordered a bunch of blood work. She performed a Bronchoscopy where they look inside the bronchial tube. They took some fluid samples from my lungs and a biopsy of a little bump in my windpipe. The labs have all come back normal. The little bump was just benign tissue from my trachea. I also had a Pulmonary function test. Now my next step is a lung biopsy. This one will be real surgery. I am waiting now to see the surgeon to get details of recovery etc. I will be in the hospital for 2-3 days with a drain coming out my side and I imagine the recovery will be a few more days after I get home.

I have a trip planned with my girlfriends to Reno to see the show "Menopause" on May 3rd. I'm really looking forward to that little trip so I hope I can schedule the surgery after that. I'm also supposed to bowl one game with my co-workers. It's part of an employee appreciation thing that they do at UC Davis called Thank Goodness For Staff. We bowl really bad but somehow we always bowl better than the other team and we get a first or second place trophy. I don't want to miss bowling either. So even though I know I should have this surgery, I hope I can do it after the fun stuff.

Well that sounds like I'm having a real pitty party here. I guess I am.

As soon as I figure out how to add pictures, I'll add some of the projects I've been doing. Like everybody who enjoys quilting, I have a lot of unfinished projects. I'd like to set a goal of finishing at least 1 project this month. Let's see how I do.

Happy Valentine's Day

It's already the middle of February! Valentine's Day was my Dad's birthday. My grandmother would always bake him a heart shaped birthday cake for his birthday. He passed away in March 1992 at 80 years young. He lived a happy and active life until then. He hated going to the doctor and I think he would have lived many more years if he had seen the doctor earlier when he had pnuemonia. Well, I can't change anything so I might as well not dwell on it.

I finally took some time last night to do some sewing. I got my computer room/quilting studio/etc. room, cleaned out enough to be able to sew in there. I make such a mess in there that I end up having to move my machine to the kitchen in order to sew. Then the kitchen is overwhelmed by my sewing supplies and finally have to clean up everything.

It's a rainy day today so maybe I'll do some more time in my room sewing. I don't know what to work on, but if I don't think of anything productive then I'll make some pincushions. Never can have too many pincushions. Right?

I let too much time pass between posting, that I forget how to do it. Now that I've figured it out, I don't have time left to type! I have a Block of the Month class to go to this morning and I still have to get ready.
I'll try again soon.

I'm back

Yes. I'm finally posting again.
My life is not interesting enough to blog everyday. In fact not even every month! It's the end of November already. November is special to me because I am so thankful for my children. We heard about the possibility of adopting our son (Ryan) in November. He was born in January so it was a wonderful 2 month time for us preparing for his birth.
My daughter, (Lindsey) had her 17th birthday this month. I can't believe how fast time has flown since our two kids came into our lives. Our son came into our lives after 13 years of marraige when we adopted him. We had suffered 2 tubal pregnancies and 2 miscarriages before an angel from heaven presented him to us. She was an unmarried high school student that was seeing my doctor and opted for adoption. Thank God! I do mean I suffered too! It was agonizing to remain childless for all those years. And when we found out I was pregnant we were elated, only to lose the pregnancy a few short weeks later.
When our son was 7 years old and the thought of a baby had long been forgotten, I got the idea that I just might be pregnant. Well I waited another month before taking a home pregnancy test and even when it was positive I didn't believe it. The blood serum pregnancy test at the hospital confirmed it, but it took me a long time to finally believe that I might actually give birth to a baby. Well to save a lot of typing, she was 6 lbs. 6 oz. and now she's 17 years old! We've been married for 38 years now! My how time flies!
Now it's almost Christmas and I need to make-sew-quilt 4 gifts for quilting friends, 5 gifts for co-workers, and 1 baby shower gift. I better get busy. I'll let you know next time how I'm progressing.

Took me long enough!

Well, it took me a month to figure out how to post another message! Can you belive that? Not that I was working at it very much. I just looked at it a couple times and finally figured out I have sign in so I can post something.

By the way, I did get my daughter's room painted and also a desk. I'll take a picture some day when I figure out how to post a picture. Don't expect it very soon because my camera is at work in my drawer, and I don't know where the liitle cord is to transfer pictures from teh camera to the computer.

I've wasted enought time today relaxing, so I better get myself going and get some housework done.
